Air India planning operations to Manila and Jakarta

Dhaka: Air India is planning to launch direct flights to Manila and Jakarta in the summer of 2025. This move reflects the airline's strategy to expand its global network.

India maintains a strong diplomatic and economic relationship with Southeast Asian countries, Indonesia and the Philippines, and air travel demand to these countries from India remains high throughout the year. But direct flights between India and Southeast Asian destinations are still very limited. There is no direct flight to Manila, and only Indigo operates a daily flight to Jakarta from Mumbai. As a result, most of the travelers depend on connecting flights.

Tata-owned Air India has implemented several strategies to expand global operations and has been frequently launching new flights to connect major cities all around the globe. Now the airline is preparing to launch direct flights to Manila and Jakarta during the summer schedule this year and gain a significant market share, capitalizing on the lower frequency of flights of other operators. Air India is also evaluating possibilities to launch direct flights to Hanoi, Bali, and Phnom Penh.
