Air India pilot dies of heart attack in Bali

Dhaka: A First Officer with Air India has died after suffering a heart attack on April 29 while on scheduled crew rest in Bali, Indonesia.

The pilot, aged approximately 40, had operated a flight from Delhi to Bali a day earlier. He was staying at a hotel during his mandated layover when he reported severe discomfort.

The crew member was immediately taken to a nearby hospital after his condition deteriorated. He was diagnosed with a heart attack.

The emergency medical team put in their best efforts, but the pilot did not survive.

Sources confirmed the pilot held a valid Class I medical certification and had completed all mandatory medical examinations as required by regulatory standards only a few months prior.

No pre-existing medical condition was known, and he had been operating well within the flying-hour limitations prescribed by India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Air India said it is in close contact with the pilot's family and is extending all possible support. "The safety, health, and well-being of Air India's passengers and crew remain the airline's highest priority," a source said.
