Argentinean airliner makes emergency landing

Dhaka: An Aerolíneas Argentinas Boeing 737-800 aircraft, registered LV-FRK, encountered engine malfunctions and made an emergency landing at Ezeiza Ministro Pistarini International Airport, Argentina (EZE), on March 5.

The B-737 was operating flight AR1648 and departed from Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Airport, Buenos Aires (AEP), for Presidente Perón International Airport, Neuquén (NQN).

According to sources, bird ingestion in one of the engines led to an explosion that detached parts of the engine. The captain detected the damage and engine power loss, then diverted to Ezeiza. About 15 flights had been delayed because of runway closure due to falling engine debris.
