The much-awaited ‘Bashundhara Media Award 2021’, the first of its kind in the country, for investigative journalism, will be handed over to the winners at a gala ceremony today.

Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan will inaugurate the ceremony.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud is scheduled to be present as the chief guest on the occasion.

Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice Nizamul Huq Nasim and Bashundhara Media Award Jury Board Chief Prof Golam Rahman will be present as special guests at the function.

Politicians, diplomats, government officials and leaders from trade bodies and different professional platforms will join the gala event.
Journalists will be given awards for their investigative reports, photographs and documentaries.
An eight-member jury board has picked up 11 reports in 5 categories, out of several hundreds of investigative stories, submitted by reporters across the country.
Each of the 11 reporters will be awarded a crest and Tk 2.5 lakh at the function.
Apart from this, Bashundhara Group will also honour 64 noted journalists, each from every district, for their contributions to journalism.
