Dhaka: The unique double-decker airplane seat concept from Zephyr Aerospace successfully carried out its crowdfunding mission getting over 700 percent of its initial goal amount.

The concept of the affordable lie flat seats in the economy cabin can now advance to the next stages of refinement and certification for use.

The seat, which has been in crowdfunding with Republic since May 15, 2020, reached its target of USD 100,000 just a month later, on June 12. But, with the campaign set to run until January 1, 2021, the founders kept crowdfunding open.

On the occasion of reaching 100 percent, its founder Jeffrey O'Neill said, "Since launching our crowdfunding campaign on Republic, we have received tremendous support from over 450 investors around the world! By investing in Zephyr Seat, you're backing a movement of disrupting the travel industry — and directly participating in our work to make travel safer and more comfortable for everyone." aviation news bd

By July 7, the seat had raised 200 percent of its original target and by July 30, it was 400 percent.

As the weeks rolled by, further investments came forward, with high-profile contributors and the seat eventually raised over 700 percent of its crowdfunding target.
