IndiGo to launch daily direct flights between Tiruchirappalli and Jaffna from March 30

New Delhi:  IndiGo has announced the launch of daily direct flights between Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) in Tamil Nadu and Jaffna in Sri Lanka, starting from March 30, 2025.

The new service is aimed at meeting the increasing travel demand between the two regions, offering enhanced options for business, leisure, and religious travelers.

Commenting on the new service, IndiGo’s Global Head of Sales, Vinay Malhotra said, “We are delighted to expand our presence in Sri Lanka with the launch of our exclusive Tiruchirappalli-Jaffna route. Building on the success of our Chennai-Jaffna service, this new connection will strengthen our network in the region.”

Located in the northern province of Sri Lanka, Jaffna is a city known for its historical significance and vibrant Tamil cultural heritage. Tourists visiting Jaffna can explore a host of cultural sites. These include the Jaffna Fort, which highlights the region’s colonial past, and the Nallur Kandaswamy Temple, a revered Hindu temple. This makes Jaffna one of the most popular destinations.

Tiruchirappalli, commonly known as Trichy, is a city known for its rich cultural heritage, spiritual significance and industrial development. The city is home to several iconic landmarks, such as the Rockfort Temple and the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, making it a popular destination for pilgrims and history buffs.
