Institutional quarantine extended to 14 days for Europe, UK arrivals

Dhaka: The institutional quarantine period for all arrivals from the United Kingdom and any European country has been extended to 14 days again effective March 31, announced the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh in a notice.

Earlier, the quarantine period had been reduced to seven days. However, following the new wave of coronavirus, the authorities again increased the duration to 14 days.

Irrespective of the Covid-19 vaccination, all passengers coming to Bangladesh shall mandatorily possess and show PCR based Covid-19 negative certificate, done within 72 hours of departure, on arrival at the airport, said CAAB in the notice.

Arrivals from any European country including the UK shall have to complete mandatory 14 days institutional quarantine at government facilities or government approved hotel at the passenger’s own expense, the notice added.

Upon completion of the quarantine period, Covid-19 PCR test will be carried out again and if the test result is negative, the passenger will be released.

But passengers originating from other countries except for Europe and the UK can opt for home quarantine of 14 days if no Covid-19 symptoms are found on arrival at health check in Bangladesh. However, if any symptom is found, passengers must go through mandatory 14 days institutional quarantine like the others.
