Dhaka : Nepalese carrier Himalaya Airlines will be commencing direct flights on Chattogram-Kathmandu route on April 7.
The airline received approval from Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram authorities for direct flight operation on the route on March 24, said the airport's Wing Commander Forhad Hossain Khan on March 25, according to reports.
Himalaya Airlines will operate two weekly flights on the route, marking the first ever direct connectivity between Bangladesh's port city Chattogram and the Nepalese capital. Direct connectivity on the route will ease the sufferings of passengers from Chattogram who currently have to travel to Dhaka to visit the Himalayan country.
Currently, the private carrier operates seven weekly flights on Dhaka-Kathmandu route. The flight duration from Dhaka to Kathmandu is 01 hour and 25 minutes. Himalaya's return ticket on Dhaka-Kathmandu route costs NPR 45,383/BDT 32,000.
Ticket price on Chatto-gram-Kathmandu route is yet to be announced.
It may be mentioned here, Himalaya Airlines has appointed SAir Air BD Ltd as its general sales agent in Bangladesh.
