Hong Kong : The world's busiest international airline route in 2023 Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur to Singapore's Changi has lost its crown to Hong Kong-Taipei route in 2024, according to reports.
The Hong Kong-Taipei route recorded 6.8 million seats in 2024, a 48 per cent year-on-year increase, though still 15 per cent below 2019 levels.
Kuala Lumpur-Changi dropped to fourth place with 5.4 million seats, following Cairo-Jeddah in second place and Seoul Incheon-Tokyo Narita in third.
The report also highlighted the strong growth of Asia-Pacific routes, which continue to recover from the pandemic.
Of the top 10 busiest international routes in 2024, seven are based in Asia, with one each from Africa, Europe/ North America, and the Middle East.
