Chattogram : Indian airline SpiceJet is launching flights on Chattogram-Kolkata route from January 6.
This is the first time the airline will be operating flights to and from any other city than Dhaka. Until now, SpiceJet has been operating flights only to Dhaka from Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai.
SpiceJet Chattogram In-charge Asif Chowdhury said, under the air bubble agreement, SpiceJet is the only carrier so far to operate flights on Chattogram-Kolkata route.
The airline will operate four weekly flights on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. SpiceJet's flight will depart Kolkata Airport at 7:15 am and the return flight will leave Chattogram Airport at 10:15 am.
SpiceJet will operate 78 seater Dash 8 aircraft on the route.
Asif Chowdhury further mentioned, passengers can purchase tickets online as well as from SpiceJet's office at Agrabad in Chattogram.
Besides SpiceJet's flights on Chattogram-Kolkata route, US-Bangla also operates international flights from Chattogram but to Chennai.
SpiceJet operates to 53 destinations in domestic and nine international destinations with 584 flights. It has 68 Boeing 737s, 30 Bombardier Dash-8 Q400s and two Boeing 737 freighters in its fleet.
