Dhaka : With the beginning of a new year, Thailand's flag carrier Thai Airways announced it will be launching a range of new products and services in the Bangladesh market.
From March 1, 2025, passengers to/from Bangladesh will be able to enjoy its new Royal Silk Business Class, offering bigger seats, on the Airbus A320 aircraft it operates to/from Dhaka.
Furthermore, from 2025 end or 2026, the airline will be launching Premium Economy on the Airbus A330-300 jet it flies on Dhaka-Bangkok route too.
Additionally, by then, passengers of Bangladesh will get to fly on the upcoming Airbus A321neo plane that the airline that has ordered and is now awaiting delivery, which it plans to launch in Dhaka as well.
Wit Kitchathorn, Vice President of Sales, Thai Airways, said this while delivering a presentation at a networking event held in the capital on January 27.
The airline made a profit of USD 500 million in 2024, he mentioned during his presentation, marking a back to pre-pandemic levels.
With the newly announced developments, Wit Kitchathorn reaffirmed Thai Airways' commitment to the Bangladesh market.
He mentioned, Thai Airways remains dedicated to delivering world-class service and enhanced connectivity for Bangladeshi travelers, solidifying its position as one of the region's leading airlines.
Thai Ambassador to Bangladesh Makawadee Sumitmor was also present on the occasion.
In her address, the Thai envoy said, "As Thailand's flag carrier, Thai Airways has played a pivotal role in fostering bilateral trade and strengthening people-to-people connections between Bangladesh and Thailand."
Ahmed Yusuf Walid, Managing Director of Air Galaxy Limited, the Passenger General Sales Agent (GSA) of Thai Airways, hosted the event, attended by trade partners and the media along with officials from Thai Airways, its Bangladesh office, and Air Galaxy.
New office in Dhaka
Earlier, on the same day, Thai Airways inaugurated its new office in Dhaka to explore more market potentials in Bangladesh.
Thai Ambassador to Bang-ladesh Makawadee Sumitmor inaugurated the office located in the capital's Gulshan area.
Wit Kitchathorn, Vice President of Sales; Narintorn Sukkaseam, Team Lead for Western, Middle East and Bangladesh, Thai Airways; and Ahmed Yusuf Walid, Managing Director of Air Galaxy Limited, the Passenger General Sales Agent (GSA) of Thai Airways, were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
Thai Airways further has strengthened its footprint in Bangladesh with branch offices in Chattogram and Sylhet, in addition to this new town office in Dhaka.
It may be mentioned here, the airline operates two daily flights on Dhaka-Bangkok route: TG322, departing at 1:40 pm, and another TG322 at 2:00 am.
These flights offer seamless connections to a wide array of international destinations, including Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Krabi, Sydney, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Tokyo (Haneda and Narita), Osaka, Manila, and Hong Kong, further mentioned the release.
THAI currently operates Airbus A330-300 on its daytime flight, which features 31 business class and 263 economy class seats, while the airline flies Airbus A320 in the early morning with an all-economy seating configuration.
