Dhaka : The largest private carrier of the country US-Bangla Airlines has now launched direct flights from Dhaka to another new international destination Male in Maldives. From November 19, as a local carrier the airline has been operating direct flights to Male carrying passengers and cargo while helping Bangladesh to keep nearly USD 1 million inside the country that used to be taken by a foreign carrier earlier.
US-Bangla Managing Director Mohammed Al Abdullah said this while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the airline's maiden flight to Male at Dhaka airport on November 19.
State Minister for Civil Aviation Mahbub Ali inaugurated the maiden flight as the chief guest while Shiruzimath Sameer, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives in Bangladesh and Air Cdre Sadikur Rahman Chowdhury, Member of Civil Aviation Authority Operations and Planning), attended the programme as special guests.
US-Bangla MD Mohammed Abdullah Al Mamun presided over the inaugural programme.
The airlines began operating flights from Dhaka to Male in accordance with the state decision of Bangladesh and the Maldives. The inaugural flight was conducted with a 164-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Initially, three flights are being operated for Male from Dhaka every week on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
The minimum airfare on the route including all taxes and surcharges is at BDT 29,508 for one-way and BDT 45,545 including return.
Currently, the US-Bangla Airlines fleet consists of a total of 16 aircraft, including six Boeing 737-800s and seven brand new ATR 72-600s.
US-Bangla Airlines operates flights to Dubai, Muscat, Doha, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Chennai, Kolkata, and Guangzhou, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, flights to Bangkok have been temporarily suspended.
As part of its future plan, US-Bangla Airlines plans to launch flights to Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam soon.
US-Bangla adds two more B737-800s
US-Bangla Airlines has added two more Boeing 737-800 aircraft to its fleet on November 26. The new entries have taken the number of aircraft in US-Bangla's fleet to 16, which is the highest among the private airlines in Bangladesh.
Boeing 737-800 aircraft has 189 Economy seats. With it, the airline has decided to operate regular scheduled flights to Colombo, Sharjah and Delhi in the near future.
US-Bangla also plans to add Airbus 330-200/300 aircraft in next June and commence flights to Jeddah, Riyadh, and Medina.
