Dhaka: The Embassy of Bangladesh in Bangkok has facilitated the repatriation of three Bangladeshi nationals who were rescued from scam centers in Myawaddy, Myanmar, according to an official social media post on April 28.
The rescued individuals were brought back with the support of the governments of Thailand and Myanmar, along with other partners involved in cross-border coordination.
Embassy officials said that, including the latest group, around 50 Bangladeshi citizens have so far been repatriated after being rescued from similar scam operations in the border area, highlighting a growing concern over trafficking and forced involvement in online fraud networks.
Diplomatic sources noted that many of these victims were lured abroad with promises of employment but later found themselves trapped in illegal scam centers, particularly in areas such as Myawaddy.
The embassy reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safe return of Bangladeshi nationals and working closely with regional governments to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable migrant workers.
Authorities have urged citizens to verify overseas job offers through official channels to avoid falling victim to such schemes.
