Dhaka: Several international airlines are issuing travel advisories urging passengers to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) well ahead of their scheduled departure times, citing enhanced security measures that have led to traffic congestion and longer queues at airport checkpoints.
Some recent notices shared by different airlines operating international flights to and from Dhaka Airport informed that passengers are experiencing significant delays due to extended security screening processes at HSIA. Airlines have advised travelers to report to airport check-in counters at least four hours prior to departure to ensure sufficient time for check-in, immigration, and security formalities.
According to airlines’ advisories, check-in counters will close 60 minutes before departure, a policy that applies to all passengers, including those who have already completed online check-in. Failure to arrive on time may result in passengers being unable to board their flights.
Airline officials emphasized that the advisories are intended to help passengers avoid inconvenience and last-minute disruptions. Travel agents and airline partners have also been requested to actively disseminate the information to customers to improve awareness.
Industry insiders noted that increased security protocols at HSIA, while necessary for passenger safety, have significantly impacted processing times, especially during peak travel hours. Passengers are therefore encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra time for airport formalities.
With international travel demand gradually increasing, airlines and airport authorities continue to stress the importance of early arrival and compliance with security requirements to ensure smoother operations and on-time departures.
