Dhaka: Cathay Group reported continued year-on-year growth in both passenger and cargo traffic for September 2025 as it expanded its global network.
Cathay Pacific and HK Express carried over 2.7 million passengers, up 20 percent from September 2024, while Cathay Cargo transported more than 130,000 tons, slightly higher than last year.
Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau said demand remained strong despite the post-summer lull, driven by outbound student travel to the UK, increased Japan traffic, and record-high premium cabin load factors.
Cathay Pacific will launch non-stop flights between Hong Kong and Changsha on November 4, 2025, expanding its Chinese Mainland network to 24 destinations and operating over 330 weekly return flights to the region this winter.
Cargo performance improved 1 percent year-on-year, supported by strong machinery and high-tech exports. A new seasonal freighter service to Madrid has also been added for the peak season.
HK Express carried nearly 530,000 passengers, up 16 percent year-on-year, with demand rising toward the end of the month around the National Day holiday.
Lau said the Group expects “strong demand for Christmas and year-end holidays” as it continues to restore capacity and connectivity.
