Nepal eyes stronger tourism cooperation with Bangladesh

Dhaka: Nepal has expressed its keen interest in strengthening tourism cooperation with Bangladesh as part of broader efforts to deepen bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

According to a press release issued by the Nepal Embassy in Dhaka, Ambassador Ghanashyam Bhandari called on Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Mr. Tarique Rahman at the latter’s office on January 18. The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to review the current state of Nepal-Bangladesh relations and explore avenues for enhanced collaboration.

During the discussion, special emphasis was placed on boosting cooperation in the tourism sector, with Nepal highlighting Bangladesh as an important source market for tourists. The two sides noted that closer engagement in tourism could significantly enhance people-to-people connectivity while contributing to economic growth in both countries.

Nepal Looks for Stronger Tourism Collaboration with Bangladesh

In addition to tourism, the meeting covered a wide range of areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, energy, education, and broader people-to-people exchanges. Both sides acknowledged the long-standing friendly ties between Nepal and Bangladesh and underscored the importance of translating political goodwill into tangible cooperation.

Ambassador Bhandari highlighted Nepal’s commitment to working closely with Bangladesh to promote tourism and cultural exchanges, stressing that improved connectivity and joint promotional initiatives could further encourage Bangladeshi travelers to visit Nepal.

The meeting concluded with a shared understanding on the need to continue dialogue and cooperation to strengthen bilateral relations, with tourism identified as a key sector for future collaboration between Nepal and Bangladesh.
