All domestic scheduled, non-scheduled, charter flights suspended till April 11

Dhaka: The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh April 4 issued a notice banning all domestic scheduled, non-scheduled, and charter flights across the country from April 5 till April 11.

However, the notice added, medevac, humanitarian/relief, and corporate flights are out of the purview of this restriction. In this case, standard disinfection, sanitization, and social distancing procedure for passengers, crew, equipment, and aircraft (inflight or on the ground) shall strictly be maintained/followed for such flights, CAAB said in the notice.

Also, international flights to and from Bangladesh will run as previously scheduled and will not fall under the suspension order of domestic flights, CAAB Chairman M Mafidur Rahman claimed.

Earlier on April 3, the government decided to impose a seven-day lockdown from April 5 in an effort to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Bangladesh recorded over 7,000 Covid-19 cases in daily figures for the first time on April 4 as the country prepared to enter a week-long lockdown from April 5.

A total of 7,087 people tested positive in the 24 hours of April 4 morning. The country logged a total of 53 deaths over the same period. With this, the total number of deaths reached 9,266 while the total infections stood at 637,364 in the country.
