Dhaka: The government is going to impose a "strict" nationwide lockdown from June for seven days. The Press Information Department made the announcement through a press statement on June 25.
The move follows the government’s efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus as cases are rising every day at an alarming rate.
All government and non-government offices, except those providing emergency services, will be closed during the period of the lockdown.
Transport movement will remain suspended. Only vehicles transporting emergency products will be allowed.
Ambulance and medical treatment-related vehicles will be exempt from the lockdown. The media will remain out of the purview of the lockdown as well.
Citizens will be asked not to go out of their residences unless for emergencies.
The Cabinet Division will issue a gazette in this regard on June 26.
