BAF training plane crash: ever-increasing death toll shocks the nation

Dhaka: The nation is in mourning following the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) F-7 BGI training jet that struck a building of Milestone School and College in Uttara. The death toll continues to rise, making it the deadliest incidents in the country’s aviation history.

According to various sources, at least 19 people have died so far, including one who was killed instantly at the scene. Several others succumbed to severe injuries and burns while undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

Speaking to reporters at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) a while ago, Dr. Sayedur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, confirmed that more than 60 individuals have been admitted there, with three deaths officially recorded. The number of victims being treated across other hospitals is also substantial, with total hospital admissions estimated to exceed 200.

In response to the emergency, NIBPS has launched a dedicated hotline to assist victims and families:
Emergency Hotline: 01949043697

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement said the ill-fated aircraft took off at 1:06 PM on Monday and crashed into the school building at approximately 1:18 PM, just 12 minutes after takeoff.

The tragic event has sent shockwaves across the country, as grieving families, students, and citizens await further updates. Condolences are pouring in from all sectors, including the highest levels of government. The government has declared national morning on Tuesday.
