Dhaka: Belmond will officially launch the Britannic Explorer on 21 July 2025, marking the debut of the first luxury sleeper train operating entirely within England and Wales.
Departing from London Victoria Station, the train will offer three-night itineraries to destinations including Cornwall, the Lake District, and Wales. The train comprises 18 cabins – three Grand Suites and 15 Suites – along with a restaurant, wellness suite, and spa.
Designed by Albion Nord in collaboration with Luke Edward Hall, Mel Campion, and Olly Fathers, the interiors feature natural materials and British-crafted antiques, with each carriage inspired by the landscapes along the route.
“The launch of the Britannic Explorer marks a pivotal moment, forging a new chapter in British rail innovation,” said Hendrik Huebner, General Manager. “The new British icon... embodies the true spirit of adventure.”
Each journey includes curated off-board experiences, such as sailing and yoga in Cornwall, wild swimming and paddleboarding in the Lake District, and hikes and art classes in Wales.
Guests on the Lake District route will also enjoy a gala dinner at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, Belmond’s Michelin two-starred hotel in Oxfordshire.
Menus are developed by Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan and Executive Head Chef Sven-Hanson Britt, with a strong focus on seasonal British produce and sustainability.
“We wanted the interiors to feel refined yet bold, timeless yet unexpected – much like Britain itself,” said Camilla Clarke, Creative Director at Albion Nord.
The Britannic Explorer joins Belmond’s UK rail portfolio, which also includes the British Pullman and Royal Scotsman.
