CAAB announces to suspend domestic flights from April 5

Dhaka: The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh has announced to suspend all domestic flights across the country from April 5 in line with the upcoming week-long lockdown, said CAAB Chairman M Mafidur Rahman.

To curb the spread of the new coronavirus variant, the government went for this movie. The upcoming gadget notice by the government about the lockdown effective April 5 will confirm the duration of the domestic flight suspension, CAAB Chairman added.

However, international flights to and from Bangladesh will run as previously scheduled and will not fall under the suspension order of domestic flights, Rahman claimed.

Speaking of which, despite the United Kingdom’s latest move of banning arrivals from Bangladesh amid the spread of the new Covid-19 variant, flights with the UK will continue as usual.

Earlier on April 3, the government decided to impose a seven-day lockdown from April 5 in an effort to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Bangladesh has logged 5,683 new cases in a day, taking the tally to 630,277. The death toll climbed to 9,213 after 58 fatalities were reported in the 24 hours to 8 am on April 3, according to data released by the government.
