IndiGo to launch first commercial flights from Navi Mumbai airport

Dhaka: IndiGo has become the first airline to launch commercial flight operations from the newly inaugurated Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).

Developed by Adani Airport Holdings Ltd, this collaboration between IndiGo and Adani Airports marks a significant milestone in strengthening India’s expanding presence in the global aviation industry.

IndiGo plans to operate over 18 daily departures and 36 air traffic movements (ATMs) from NMIA, connecting passengers to more than 15 destinations across the country.

The airline has ambitious plans to scale up these operations significantly. By the beginning of November 2025, IndiGo aims to operate 79 daily departures (158 ATMs), including 14 international flights.

This expansion is expected to continue, doubling to 140 daily departures (280 ATMs) with 30 international departures by November 2026.

Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, said, “The new flights from the brand-new NMIA will elevate our customers' travel experience while enjoying affordable, on-time, hassle-free services on our unparalleled network.”

In its initial phase, Navi Mumbai International Airport will be able to handle 20 million passengers and 0.5 million metric tonnes of cargo annually.

This capacity is projected to increase to 90 million passengers and 3.2 million metric tonnes of cargo per year upon completion.
