Dhaka: N Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons Group, has reportedly been in talks with chief executives of some international carriers to seek the successor for Campbell Wilson, the current CEO of Air India. The discussions are going on, even though Wilson's term will run until June 2027.

Back in July 2022, he joined Air India with a five-year-long transformation plan to establish the carrier as a major global airline and improve its ailing financial conditions.

On November 7, 2025, Wilson took part in his first public engagement since the crash of Air India Flight 171 in June and talked about a "new Air India," which was taking shape. Additionally, he highlighted the airline's plan to add 524 new aircraft by 2031.

Media reports claim a similar chief executive succession plan for Air India Express has also been in consideration. The low-cost wing's current CEO, Aloke Singh, is set to end his tenure in 2027.
