Cox's Bazar : Tourists from home and abroad flooded the country's popular beach destination Cox's Bazar during the long Eid holidays.
Laboni, Sugandha, and Kalatali points of the sea beach were bustling with tourists. Businesses there reported that at least 800,000 tourists visited the beach in the seven days from the Eid Day on June 7 to June 10. There was a pressure of tourists during the 10-day Eid vacation until June 14.
Hotel representatives said that all rooms of hotels, motels, resorts, guesthouses, and cottages in the city had already been booked in advance until June 13.
Tourist Police officials from the Cox's Bazar Zone said, three-tier security measures had been strengthened to make the tourists' visits enjoyable during the Eid holidays. In addition to monitoring from the watch tower, police were stationed at every checkpoint on the beach.
On one side, a mobile team was patrolling the beach, while on the other, plainclothes police were patrolling the beach.
