Dhaka : The government of Thailand announced to provide Bangladeshi travellers with e-visa services from early 2025. Once the e-visa facility is launched, Bangladeshi ordinary passport holders will be able to obtain their visa online from the comfort of their homes. The facility has already been initiated by Thailand through 69 of its embassies, said a release.

Ambassador Worawoot Pongprapapant, Director-General of Consular Department of Thai Foreign Ministry announced the development during a meeting with Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, Bangladeshi Ambassador to Thailand on October 24 in Bangkok.

The Director-General further advised Bangladeshi passport holders interested in seeking medical treatment in Thailand to apply for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) while obtaining their visas from Dhaka.

This visa, along with the caretaker's visa, will be valid for five years and each visit will be valid for six months. He mentioned that a recommendation letter from the Bangladeshi embassy in Bangkok will not be required for this visa.

The Director-General also announced, from December 19, 2024, visa exemption facilities will be implemented for government passport holders from both countries. It is worth mentioning that visa exemption for diplomatic passport holders has been in effect since 2018.
