Air India adds Mumbai-Toronto flights, expands Canada capacity

Dhaka: Air India has announced an expansion of its Canada operations for the Winter 2026-27 season, adding a new nonstop service between Mumbai and Toronto and boosting overall India-Canada capacity by 4,400 seats each month.
The seasonal Mumbai-Toronto route will operate three times weekly from October 25, 2026, to March 26, 2027, making Air India the only carrier offering direct flights between the two cities and adding nearly 2,000 weekly seats on the corridor.
The service will be operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft featuring upgraded interiors, including eight First Class suites with privacy sliding doors, 40 flat-bed Business Class seats, and 280 Economy seats, along with onboard WiFi connectivity.
Through its Mumbai and Delhi hubs, Air India said passengers traveling to and from Canada will be able to connect to several Indian cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kochi, among others.
Separately, the airline confirmed it began operating brand-new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners on Delhi-Toronto flights from August 1, introducing its latest cabin product and onboard experience to Canada for the first time.
Of the ten weekly flights Air India operates on the Delhi-Toronto route this winter, seven will be flown by brand-new 787-9 Dreamliners, while the remaining three will initially use 777-300ER jets before transitioning to the 787-9 from January 2027.
With the changes, all Air India flights between Toronto and its Indian hubs will feature new or significantly upgraded cabins, and the airline said the moves will raise premium seat capacity to Toronto by 71% this winter.
Air India Chief Commercial Officer of Nipun Aggarwal said Canada remains one of the airline's most important international markets, driven by strong people-to-people ties, and that the new Mumbai-Toronto service would offer travelers more choice during the festive season.
He added that the airline continues to introduce its newest aircraft and onboard products to North America as part of efforts to strengthen its position in the competitive long-haul market and establish itself as a preferred gateway between India and the world.
