Bangladesh expects direct Cox’s Bazar-Nepal flights, Kathmandu seeks Dhaka-Pokhara route

Dhaka: Bangladesh expects direct flights between Nepal and Cox’s Bazar following the planned inauguration of Cox’s Bazar International Airport next month, while Nepal has expressed interest in launching Biman Bangladesh Airlines flights on the Dhaka-Pokhara route.
The proposals were discussed at a meeting between Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat and Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari at the Bangladesh Secretariat on October 14.
During the meeting, the minister said the inauguration of Cox’s Bazar International Airport would create opportunities for Nepalese tourists to travel directly to the popular beach destination.
He expressed hope that Nepalese legacy carrier Himalaya Airlines would operate direct flights to Cox’s Bazar, opening up new opportunities to boost tourism between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Nepal expressed interest in introducing Biman Bangladesh Airlines flights on the Dhaka-Pokhara route, which could improve connectivity between the two countries and facilitate tourism exchanges.
The two sides also discussed strengthening bilateral relations, expanding tourism exchanges, improving air connectivity, and exploring joint initiatives to develop the tourism industry.
Both sides expressed optimism about deepening cooperation and identifying new areas of collaboration in tourism.
