Bangladesh showcases 14 apparel firms at Barcelona Textile Expo 2026

Dhaka: Bangladesh is showcasing its garment and textile products at the 10th Barcelona Textile Expo 2026 in Spain, as the country seeks to expand exports and strengthen trade ties with European markets.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Spain Masudur Rahman formally inaugurated the Bangladesh pavilion at the international exhibition, being held at Fira de Barcelona, Montjuïc, from October 21 to 23.
Fourteen reputed Bangladeshi garment and textile companies are participating in the expo with support from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and the Bangladesh Embassy in Madrid.
At the inauguration, the ambassador highlighted the garment and textile industry's contribution to Bangladesh's export earnings, employment generation, and economic growth.
He noted that Spain has surpassed Germany to become the largest destination for Bangladeshi exports within the European Union, reflecting the country's manufacturing capacity, product quality, and growing confidence among international buyers.
Masudur Rahman also said the government was working to strengthen economic stability, boost investor confidence, and consolidate Bangladesh's international economic relations.
Referring to positive developments in sovereign credit assessments and economic reviews by international institutions, including Moody's, he said such progress reflected efforts to improve the stability and resilience of the country's economy.
The ambassador stressed Spain's importance in expanding Bangladesh's export markets and diversifying its export basket, calling for stronger commercial ties between the two countries.
At the expo, Bangladeshi companies are displaying modern textile products, innovative fabrics, environmentally friendly manufacturing solutions, and higher-value-added fashion items.
The exhibition offers participating companies opportunities to engage directly with international buyers, fashion brands, and suppliers, potentially opening doors to new business partnerships, export contracts, and greater access to European markets.
The initiative also aims to highlight the competitiveness, product quality, and commitment to sustainable manufacturing of Bangladesh's garment industry while deepening trade and economic relations with Spain and other European countries.
