Bangladesh Tourism Board marks World Tourism Day with colorful rally
The rally began in the
morning from Parjatan Bhaban in Agargaon, with Abul Kalam Azad Siddique, Chairman
of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and
Tourism, attending as the chief guest.
The Chief Executive Officer
of the Bangladesh Tourism Board Barrister Mutasim Billah Faruqui also joined
the event alongside other officials and representatives from the tourism
sector.
The annual World Tourism
Day observance provides an opportunity to highlight tourism’s contribution to
economic activity, employment and cultural exchange while drawing attention to
the need for sustainable development of destinations.
The Dhaka rally formed
part of Bangladesh’s activities to observe the global tourism day and promote
greater awareness of the country’s tourism potential.
Participants walked
through the capital carrying banners and messages related to tourism and the
sector’s development.
The event also brought
together government representatives and media organizations, reflecting efforts
to increase public attention to tourism and strengthen cooperation among
stakeholders.
Bangladesh has been
seeking to develop its tourism industry by promoting destinations ranging from
cultural and archaeological sites to beaches, forests and nature-based
attractions.
