Biman flight stranded in Muscat as passenger dies on board

Dhaka: A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight has remained on the ground at Muscat International Airport after a passenger died following an in-flight medical emergency. The flight, BG136, is awaiting clearance from Omani authorities to remove the passenger's body.

BG136 was traveling from Jeddah to Dhaka via Chattogram on August 26 when the passenger's condition deteriorated. The crew subsequently diverted the aircraft to Muscat and made an emergency landing, but the passenger did not survive.

Following the aircraft's arrival, Biman contacted the Royal Oman Police to obtain permission to remove the body. The airline said it will complete the required formalities once permission is granted.

The delay has left the other passengers waiting at the airport, with the timing of the flight's onward departure yet to be determined. The aircraft will resume its journey after the necessary procedures are completed.

Biman sources said the airline is maintaining regular communication with Omani authorities and will take immediate measures to continue the passengers' journey once the required clearance is received.
