Biman invites proposals for aircraft lease consultancy

Dhaka: Biman Bangladesh Airlines has issued a request for proposals (RFP) from internationally reputed consultancy firms to support its aircraft leasing activities across the full lease lifecycle.
The national carrier is seeking expert assistance in aircraft search and valuation, lease negotiation support, technical assessments, lease monitoring and compliance, and redelivery management.
Interested firms may submit clarification requests by June 15. Technical and financial proposals must be submitted separately by 12:00 pm on June 28, as specified in the official RFP document.
The move marks a significant shift for Biman, which long handled its leasing arrangements independently. The lack of specialized expertise led to considerable challenges, including unfavorable lease terms and complications in fleet management.
Aviation experts say hiring a dedicated consultancy firm will help the airline reduce costs, strengthen its negotiating position, and streamline the leasing process, potentially yielding more competitive lease rates.
The airline is also expected to benefit from access to better-quality aircraft available on the global leasing market, which could accelerate and improve fleet modernization efforts.
Additionally, expert oversight in technical assessments and redelivery management will help Biman minimize costly disputes and penalty exposure that frequently arise at the conclusion of lease agreements.
The multi-year engagement with Bangladesh's flag carrier represents a notable opportunity for international firms with established expertise in commercial aviation lease advisory.
