China Eastern returns to Stockholm with new cargo handling partnership
The carrier restarted
flights between Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Stockholm Arlanda in
June, operating three times a week with Airbus A330 aircraft. Services run on
Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Alongside the route
relaunch, China Eastern signed a three-year agreement with WFS, which
previously handled the airline’s cargo operations in Sweden before the pandemic
disrupted the service.
The renewed route is
expected to transport about 1,000 tonnes of cargo annually between Shanghai and
Stockholm, supporting trade links between the two cities.
Kim Elfström, managing
director of WFS Sweden, said the companies had maintained their relationship
through WFS’s ongoing contract with China Eastern in Copenhagen.
“We look forward to
supporting China Eastern’s return to Sweden and its future growth on this
important route,” Elfström said.
WFS operates two cargo
facilities at Stockholm Arlanda covering more than 18,000 square meters. Its
operations include GDP-certified pharmaceutical handling facilities and road
transportation services.
The company currently
provides cargo handling and trucking for more than 20 international airlines
and freight forwarding customers in the Swedish market.
WFS has also strengthened
its Stockholm portfolio over the past year by extending its cargo agreement
with Singapore Airlines and securing a new handling contract with Norse
Atlantic Airways.
