Desi taste at Swade Bangladesh

In
the last few decades, the food scenario of Bangladesh has been witnessing a
multi-dimensional growth. Different kinds of international cuisines have been
enriching the Desi food arena. Intercontinental foods are showcased through a
good number of restaurants, not only in the capital but also in different parts
of the country too.
Amidst
the melee of all these different types of food from different corners of the
world, the very popular Desi cuisine is slowly but surely making its own
signature marks. Dhaka, the capital, has recently seen an increase in terms of
Bangladeshi restaurants.
Swade
Bangladesh is one of the most recent ones amongst these. This is a place which
serves authentic Bangladeshi food, with a very few additions of some
international favorite.
Swade
Bangladesh made its debut in early 2024. The menu is an assortment of
mouth-watering desi delicacies. Different types of vortas (mashed
vegetables/fish) - tomato, brinjal, potato, lentil, eggs, and dry fish are the
starters. This is followed by Vaji (sautéed vegetables) - bitter gourd,
eggplant etc. There is also vegetable curry, coupled with plain daal. The
poultry segment of the menu has delicacies like Chicken Jhal Fry, and Duck Chui
Jhal, among others. Beef and mutton are done in our own very deshi preparations
like Bhuna and Curry - which are both popular and delicious. As accompaniment,
one can opt for Plain Rice, Polao, Khichuri, different types of Nan, Roti.
Apart from these very popular local dishes, Swade Bangladesh also has an array of Kababs in its menu. These are done in regular but tasty preparations like Botis, Tandoori, Sheekh. The Chef's Special list includes delicacies like Whole Hilsa, Daab Chingri, Hilsa Polao, Beef Chap, Mutton Leg Roast, the topper being Letta Khichuri with Kala Bhuna - all of which are specialties of this soil.

To
end the meal on a sweet note, there are typical desi desserts like Doi, Firni,
Halwa, and of course, Faluda. Beverages include a variety of coffee, tea and
juice. Swade Bangladesh also has an array of set menu combination which is very
convenient and filling too. Their breakfast menu is an array of delicious
dishes which features all-time favorites like Luchi, Paratha, Aloor Dom, Mutton
Paya, Daal, Vegetables, Halwa etc.
The
décor of Swade Bangladesh is as apt as the name of the restaurant. The 80+
seating restaurant has wall paintings of famous painters (S.M. Sultan) and
authors (Rabindranath Tagore), coupled with Nakshikatha and the six seasons -
all of which depicts our rich cultural roots.
Even
the servers are donned in colorful attires, which mirrors the colors and motifs
from life around us. They also have very creative offerings for the guests
which includes quiz on the motherland and a cute reading corner.
This
window-side place is a cozy nook - where one can browse, read while having a
few moments of leisure - while popular tunes soothe the soul. These elements
are pretty new and adds a refreshing note to the entire place, which is open
from 8 am till 11 pm.
It
is one of the very few Desi restaurants in the northern part of the city, which
also caters to corporate bodies, banks, etc. The owner, well-equipped with a
rich and long career in international F&B chains, both at home and abroad,
has put in his best efforts to create a place for the local cuisine and
culture. Once one steps in - one can see and feel that he has successfully done
so. Swade Bangladesh literally means Taste of Bangladesh. It is indeed a place
where our very own Desi delicacies can be savored and relished amidst our local
tunes and tastes.
