Dhaka airport installs 32 CCTV cameras, 18 monitors to let passengers track baggage handling

Dhaka: The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has installed 32 CCTV cameras and 18 large monitors at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka to allow passengers to watch how their baggage is handled.
The initiative aims to improve passenger services, strengthen baggage security, and ensure greater transparency and accountability in baggage handling at the country’s main international airport.
According to a press release, the cameras have been installed across eight baggage belt areas, while the 18 monitors, each measuring 65 inches, will display live footage of baggage handling operations.
Passengers will be able to watch the process from the unloading of baggage from aircraft and its transportation to designated areas to sorting and delivery to baggage belts.
The system is expected to give passengers a clearer understanding of how their luggage is handled and improve transparency, efficiency, and accountability throughout the process.
CAAB said it remained committed to protecting passengers’ interests, ensuring safe and comfortable travel, and developing airport management in line with international standards.
The authority said it was continuing to expand technology-driven, passenger-friendly services to ensure that domestic and international travelers, including expatriate Bangladeshis, could collect their baggage smoothly and with greater confidence.
The initiative marks another step towards improving passenger service standards at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
