Egyptian Tourism and Antiquities
Minister Sherif Fathy met Saudi Deputy Minister of Tourism Abdul Mohsen Al
Mazid to discuss tourism trends, destination promotion and opportunities to
expand yacht tourism in the Red Sea. Fathy also highlighted Egypt’s plans to
use modern technology and artificial intelligence to market its attractions,
noting growing interest in the country’s North Coast among Saudi visitors.
Fathy also held
discussions with Marriott International President for Europe, the Middle East
and Africa Neal Jones and Hilton President and CEO Chris Nassetta on hotel
expansion, workforce training and international promotion.
The executives outlined
their companies’ plans for Egypt, including developments in coastal
destinations. Discussions also covered opportunities for Egyptian hospitality
professionals to gain international experience through the hotel groups’ global
networks.
Separately, the Egyptian
minister met representatives of a Saudi cruise tourism company to explore
adding more Egyptian ports and destinations, particularly along the North Coast
and in El Alamein, to Mediterranean itineraries.
Both sides agreed to
coordinate with the Egyptian Tourism Federation to advance cooperation and
attract more cruise passengers.
The discussions reflect
Egypt’s efforts to diversify tourism markets, expand hotel capacity and
strengthen its appeal to regional and international travelers.
