EgyptAir plans Singapore-Cairo service via Sydney in 2027

Cairo : EgyptAir is preparing to introduce a new service linking Singapore and Sydney with Cairo from early 2027, potentially opening the first direct air connection between the two Asia-Pacific cities and North Africa.

The proposed route was announced jointly by Egypt's national carrier, Changi Airport Group and Sydney Airport on September 10. The service will require regulatory approval, with further details expected from EgyptAir.

The partners said Egypt was the largest African market without a direct point-to-point connection to either Singapore or Australia in 2025, highlighting strong potential for the new route.

The planned service is also expected to support business, tourism and cultural ties among Egypt, Singapore and Australia while giving travelers additional options for reaching North Africa.

EgyptAir Vice President (Commercial) Amr Adawy said the route would strengthen the airline's position in the Asia-Pacific region and offer passengers convenient connections through its wider network across Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

The airline is considering Airbus A350-900 aircraft for the service as it expands and renews its fleet.
