JS body calls for urgent recruitment to fill vacancies in aviation, tourism sector


Dhaka: The Parliamentary
Standing Committee on the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry has recommended
urgent measures to fill vacant positions across the ministry and its agencies
to strengthen the country's aviation and tourism sectors.
The recommendation came
at the committee's first meeting, held at the Jatiya Sangsad Complex on October
8, with Chairman Abul Kalam Azad Siddiqui presiding, according to a
parliamentary press release.
The committee also called
for detailed reports on ongoing activities and vacant posts to assess progress
and identify staffing needs across the sector.
During the meeting,
officials presented the activities of the Civil Aviation Authority of
Bangladesh, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Bangladesh Tourism Board, and Bangladesh
Parjatan Corporation.
The discussions focused
on developing Bangladesh into a major aviation hub while enhancing its appeal
as an international tourism destination.
The committee emphasized
stronger coordination between the ministry and its affiliated agencies to
establish a modern, safe, and internationally competitive aviation and tourism
industry.
It also stressed the
importance of transparency, accountability, and preventing corruption in the
implementation of development activities.
Civil Aviation and
Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat and other committee members attended
the meeting, alongside senior officials from the ministry, its agencies, and
the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat.
The recommendations
underscore the need for adequate staffing, effective institutional
coordination, and improved oversight to support the government's aviation and
tourism development objectives.
