Korean Air finalizes 103-jet Boeing order

Dhaka: South Korean flag carrier Korean Air has finalized agreements worth around KRW 60 trillion, equivalent to USD 44.8 billion, to purchase 103 Boeing aircraft along with engines from GE Aerospace and CFM International.

A signing ceremony took place in Seoul on September 15, attended by company executives and government officials from South Korea and the United States, completing a procurement plan first announced in Washington, D.C. in August 2025.

The agreements cover USD 36.2 billion for 103 Boeing jets, comprising 20 777-9Xs, 25 787-10 Dreamliners, 50 737-10s, and eight 777-8F freighters.

Korean Air also signed deals worth about USD 8.6 billion with GE Aerospace and CFM International for 21 spare engines and 15-year maintenance coverage for 28 aircraft.

Walter Cho, CEO of Korean Air and Chairman of Hanjin Group, called the finalization of the Washington agreements a proud moment for the airline, describing it as a testament to the trust and alliance between South Korea and the United States.

The carrier said the investment will ensure a stable, long-term fleet induction schedule and support capacity growth as it prepares for its planned integration with Asiana Airlines in December.
