Modern trolleys handed over to Chattogram Airport for migrant workers

Dhaka: Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury formally launched the handover of modern, quality luggage trolleys for migrant workers travelling through Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport.
The minister handed over the first consignment of trolleys to Group Captain Mohammad Nur Hossain, Director of Shah Amanat International Airport, on October 1 as part of efforts to improve facilities for outbound migrant workers.
The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment said the full consignment of trolleys would be handed over to the airport soon.
Speaking at the event, Chowdhury said Bangladeshi workers must acquire proper skills before going abroad.
“If we cannot send skilled workers, merely increasing the number of workers going abroad will not bring any real benefit to the country,” he said.
During his visit, the minister inspected the expatriates’ welfare desk at the airport. He spoke directly with outbound passengers and inquired about their facilities, needs, and problems.
Responding to questions from journalists, Chowdhury said around 434,000 Bangladeshi workers had secured overseas employment in the past seven months despite adverse circumstances, including war-like situations in the Middle East.
He expressed hope that the country would see better results in overseas employment markets in the coming days.
