New dashboard to showcase RMG factories’ progress to international buyers

Dhaka: Bangladesh’s garment factories will be able to demonstrate their progress in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance to international buyers through a new dashboard launched by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
Developed jointly by BGMEA, the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), and the Embassy of Denmark, the dashboard will help factories track their ESG performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide buyers with data demonstrating their progress.
Danish Ambassador Christian Brix Møller highlighted the initiative’s potential to strengthen Bangladesh’s competitiveness in global markets, saying the country could no longer compete on cost alone.
Sustainability, transparency, and trust will increasingly shape the future of the textile industry, he said, according to a statement from the Danish Embassy on 21 October.
The ambassador said companies investing in sustainability could turn their progress into a competitive advantage, while better data could help build buyer confidence and strengthen Bangladesh’s position in international markets.
He also outlined five priorities for sustained growth: securing favorable trade access through an EU–Bangladesh free trade agreement, strengthening regional energy cooperation and the green transition, diversifying products and markets, advancing economic reforms, and building an inclusive and stable parliamentary democracy to boost long-term investor confidence.
The embassy thanked BGMEA, BIGD, and the garment factories that contributed data to the initiative, describing it as a collaborative effort to promote sustainable prosperity.
