SIA unveils new long-haul cabins with SGD 2 billion investment

Dhaka: Singapore Airlines (SIA) unveiled a new generation of long-haul cabin products across First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy Class, and Economy Class, backed by an investment of more than SGD 2 billion.
The airline said the cabins are designed around how passengers work, dine, relax, and sleep on board. They form a key part of its upgraded end-to-end travel experience, according to a release on November 6.
SIA will roll out the new products gradually from the second half of 2027. They will first appear on its 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 long-haul and A350-900 ultra-long-range (ULR) aircraft, as well as its new Boeing 777-9 fleet.
The 777-9 will carry all four new cabin products. All 41 retrofitted A350-900 and A350-900ULR aircraft will get the new Business Class seats, while the A350-900ULR fleet will also feature First Class cabins for the first time.
The designs draw on research involving more than 5,000 frequent travelers, customers, staff, and industry experts around the world. The airline conducted focus groups, interviews, surveys, and concept testing during the process.
Passengers showed a growing preference for greater privacy and comfort, intuitive functionality, flexibility, and a more connected experience, according to the findings.
SIA worked with three international design firms. PriestmanGoode designed First Class, Designworks handled Business Class, and Factorydesign created Premium Economy and Economy Class.
On the manufacturing side, Collins Aerospace will supply the First Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class seats. RECARO Aircraft Seating will build the Business Class seats.
SIA Chief Commercial Officer Lee Lik Hsin said that although each cabin was designed individually, all share the goal of making the journey more comfortable, flexible, and rewarding. He added that passengers will have greater control over their in-flight experience.
