Star Medical expands cardiology equipment footprint across Bangladesh

: Star Medical, a Bangladeshi importer and distributor of cardiology equipment,
is expanding its presence across the country's healthcare sector as demand for
advanced cardiac treatment continues to grow, despite mounting cost pressures
caused by currency fluctuations and pricing regulations.
In
an interview with The Bangladesh Monitor, Mustafa Kamal, Proprietor of Star
Medical, said, the company has been supplying specialized cardiology equipment
and devices to hospitals in Bangladesh for the past nine years.
Expanding
cardiac technology
Star
Medical focuses exclusively on cardiology, importing both cath lab machines and
interventional devices from manufacturers in Denmark, Spain, Germany, Türkiye,
the United States, China, India, and other countries.
The
company supplies angiography and catheterization laboratory systems used in
procedures such as coronary angioplasty and stent implantation, alongside
devices including stents, balloons, and other consumables.
Kamal
said, the company regularly participates in major international cardiology
conferences, including the annual EuroPCR congress in France, where it meets
manufacturers and places orders for the latest technologies.
Growing
hospital network
Star
Medical currently supplies around 3,000 to 4,000 cardiology devices annually,
while selling one to two major cath lab systems each year.
Its
Fuji Innvolution catheterization and angiography systems, manufactured in
India, are now installed in three hospitals in Bangladesh, with additional
orders under process.
Meanwhile,
the company's cardiology devices are being used in more than 25 hospitals
nationwide, up from around 20 hospitals a year ago, reflecting growing adoption
of advanced cardiac intervention technologies.
All
imported products carry internationally recognized certifications, including CE
marking and US FDA approvals. Before entering the local market, devices also
require licensing from the DGDA and approval of their MRP.
