Thai Airways, LOT Polish Airlines plan codeshare partnership

Dhaka: Thai Airways International and LOT Polish Airlines have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to confirm their intention to establish a codeshare cooperation, according to a statement on October 14.
The planned partnership will cover selected destinations across Europe, Asia, and Oceania, giving passengers of both airlines a wider network of connections and greater convenience while traveling. The first journeys under the new arrangement are scheduled to begin with the 2027 summer season.
Kittiphong Sansomboon, Chief Commercial Officer of Thai Airways, and Robert Ludera, Board Member and Chief Commercial Officer at LOT Polish Airlines, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective carriers. The signing coincided with the inauguration of LOT's new Warsaw-Bangkok route.
"This MoU marks an important step in strengthening the connection between Thailand and Poland," Kittiphong said, adding that LOT's new Warsaw-Bangkok service builds a platform for deeper cooperation and more accessible travel between Europe and Asia.
Ludera said the new Warsaw-Bangkok route opens up fresh opportunities for travelers seeking convenient access to Thailand and other destinations across Asia, Australia, and Oceania, calling Thai Airways a natural partner for the venture.
By combining their networks, the two carriers, both members of the Star Alliance, aim to expand travel options between Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, reaching new groups of travelers while also supporting tourism and business in both directions.
The planned codeshare will build on the airlines' existing interline cooperation, under which passengers can already combine Thai Airways and LOT flights within a single itinerary. The next step of the cooperation will involve signing a formal codeshare agreement, followed by technical and operational preparations to implement the partnership.
Currently, due to their common Star Alliance membership, passengers already earn miles on eligible flights of both carriers, while Star Alliance Gold members enjoy lounge access, priority airport services, and extra baggage allowance.
