Journalist Naym Abir wins award for tourism reporting

The award was presented
by Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat at a ceremony
held on October 3 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in
Dhaka. The Bangladesh Tourism Board introduced the awards to recognize
contributions to the sector’s development, service quality, innovation and
sustainability.
Abir, a staff reporter at
Star News, has covered tourism, aviation, hotels, resorts, immigration and
travel, reporting on both the industry’s growth prospects and challenges. His
work has examined infrastructure gaps, policy issues, passenger concerns and
perspectives from industry stakeholders.
He is also the founder
and CEO of Check In, a digital media platform focused on travel. In addition to
tourism and aviation, his reporting covers international relations and economic
affairs.
Reacting to the
recognition, Abir said receiving national-level acknowledgment in a specialized
field was a source of pride and would encourage him to pursue more responsible,
evidence-based journalism.
The 2026 awards recognize
individuals, businesses and organizations across tourism-related fields,
including hotels, tour operators, entrepreneurs, tour guides, tourism content
creation and MICE initiatives.
