KOICA provides USD 2m grants to develop Chattogram TTC

Dhaka: The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will provide a USD 2 million grant to Bangladesh to upgrade the Bangladesh-Korea Technical Training Center (BKTTC) in Chattogram and strengthen its technical and vocational training programs.

The Government of Bangladesh and KOICA signed the Record of Discussion (RoD) and Terms of Reference (ToR) for the project titled “Ex-Post Management Project for Enhancing the Vocational Training Program of TTC, Chittagong” on September 17, according to a press release.

The project will be implemented by the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) under the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.

The KOICA grant will finance the construction of a new two-story academic building with a foundation designed to support six stories, replacing the center's outdated existing facility.

The project is also aimed at improving the quality of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programs at the center and developing highly skilled technical manpower for Bangladesh.

The project will be implemented from 2026 to 2028.

Masuma Akter, additional secretary and wing chief (Asia, JEC, and F&F) of the Economic Relations Division (ERD), signed the RoD and ToR on behalf of Bangladesh, while Jihoon Kim, country director of KOICA, signed on behalf of the Republic of Korea.
