ICAO-backed CBTA course review training concludes at Civil Aviation Academy

Dhaka: The Civil Aviation Academy has completed a three-day training course titled "Conducting a Cursory Review of CBTA Course Materials" with support from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The training, conducted by ICAO Senior Instructor Capt. Mostafa Hoummady, ran from October 25 to 27, according to a release from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
The course aimed to improve participants' skills in reviewing course materials developed under the competency-based training and assessment (CBTA) framework. It focused on evaluating the quality of training materials, ensuring alignment with international standards, and making competency-based programs more effective.
Senior officials involved in CAAB's training activities, training managers, instructors, pilots, air traffic controllers, flight safety officers, and other professionals attended the training.
Civil Aviation Academy Director and an ICAO Instructor, Prashanta Kumar Chakraborty, said the course would help strengthen the capacity to develop and review high-quality, competency-based training courses. He added that it would support CAAB's efforts to raise the quality of its training programs and build a skilled workforce.
Speaking at the closing and certificate distribution ceremony, CAAB Member (ATM) Air Commodore Md. Noor-e-Alam said internationally recognized training and proper review of course materials are essential for developing a competent workforce in the civil aviation sector.
He also noted that effective implementation of the CBTA approach would significantly help in assessing trainees' practical competencies and improving overall training quality.
At the end of the course, Hoummady handed certificates to the participants.
