Menzies Aviation adds passenger services at Kuala Lumpur Airport

Dhaka: Menzies Aviation has expanded its operations at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to include passenger services, becoming a full-suite ground handling provider at Malaysia's largest and busiest airport.
In a release on October 1, the British aviation service provider said the expansion follows the award of a ground handling license to Menzies Aviation Malaysia in November 2024 and the launch of ramp operations in January 2025.
To deliver the new service, the company selected and upskilled employees from its existing ramp team and trained them to handle above-the-wing operations. Menzies said the cross-trained team managed both passenger and ramp services for Ascend Airways' proving flight in August 2026.
The flight was a key milestone in the airline's Passenger/Commercial Air Operator Certificate approval process. Menzies said the operation demonstrated the company's ability to provide safe and efficient passenger handling in a complex operating environment.
KLIA, the largest and busiest airport in Malaysia and one of the most important aviation gateways in Southeast Asia, handled 63.3 million passengers in 2025, up from 57 million in 2024. The airport ranked 20th busiest in the world last year, climbing from 26th place in 2024.
Menzies said expanding to a full-suite ground handling operation will allow it to apply the expertise, safety standards, and operational practices from its global network in a rapidly growing and increasingly competitive market.
Darren Masters, Executive Vice President for Oceania and Southeast Asia at Menzies Aviation, said the company built a strong operational foundation at the airport in less than two years. He added that combining local capability with global standards will allow it to offer airlines integrated ground handling solutions from arrival to departure.
Menzies Aviation also said it is committed to running a sustainable operation at KLIA. Electricity powers 58% of its ground support equipment fleet, and the company also uses lower-emission fuels, including B20 biodiesel.
The company also supports local community organizations, including Ahsana Charity House and The Lost Food Project.
