Swissport enters Indonesia with UNEX Aviation Services joint venture

The companies have signed
binding agreements under which Swissport will acquire a stake in UNEX, which
has more than two decades of operations and provides cargo warehousing and
related services at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
The partnership initially
builds on UNEX’s cargo operations but is expected to broaden into passenger and
ramp handling. The companies also plan to extend their services to other
Indonesian airports.
Swissport President and
CEO Warwick Brady said Indonesia’s expanding aviation sector and vast geography
make the country an important market for the company’s regional growth
strategy. He said combining Swissport’s international capabilities with UNEX’s
local knowledge would support airlines and cargo operators.
Indonesia handled about
101 million domestic and international air passengers in 2024, while air
freight volumes reached roughly 1 million tons, according to the companies.
UNEX founder and CEO
Budiman Tedja said the partnership would help strengthen the company’s
operational capabilities and expand its range of services.
Swissport currently
operates across several Asia-Pacific markets, including China, Japan, South
Korea, Australia and New Zealand. Its regional operations handled about 25
million passengers, 632,000 flights and 450,000 tons of cargo in 2025.
