Thai Airways cuts fares by up to 30pc

According to reports, the
airline lowered both base fares and fuel surcharges after aviation fuel prices
fell from around USD 240 per barrel to about USD 110 per barrel as geopolitical
tensions in the Middle East eased.
The airline said it had
established a dedicated team to closely monitor fluctuations in fuel prices
during the recent conflict. Once prices began to stabilize, Thai Airways
decided to pass some of the savings on to passengers.
Before the Middle East
tensions pushed prices higher, Jet A-1 aviation fuel had been trading at about UDS
90 per barrel. Although fuel prices remain above that level, the recent decline
has enabled the carrier to reduce operating costs.
Thai Airways said it will
continue monitoring global oil markets, noting that fuel supplies remain under
pressure in some regions due to refinery disruptions.
The fare reduction is
part of the airline's strategy to strengthen its competitiveness and attract
more travelers, while avoiding an industry-wide price war. The carrier expects
the lower fares to stimulate demand as international travel continues to
recover.
