Dhaka: A Bengaluru bound flight from Doha was forced to make an emergency landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai on May May 14 night after a drunk passenger allegedly created ruckus onboard.
Police said that the passenger from Kerala named Sarfuddin Ulwar was arrested and booked under the Indian Penal Code and the Aircraft Act. He was produced in a metropolitan magistrate court on May 15 and remanded in judicial custody.
Police said that the passenger allegedly misbehaved with an air hostess when she tried to stop him from drinking. They further added, the passenger also allegedly abused fellow passengers, who tried to intervene, and picked up a fight with them.
Police claimed such behaviour forced the diversion of the flight and led to its emergency landing in Mumbai.
Central Industrial Security Force personnel at the Mumbai airport took the unruly passenger into custody when the flight landed and handed him over to the police.
